The Mommie's Stuff

Welcome, Mommyfest Partiers!

May 12, 2008

We have a winner!!!  Katrina from Crafts by Katie.

First, what’s a party without a game & prize!?!

My philosophy on this blog is that mothering is a far cry from the cute pictures all over the place yesterday (mother’s day). I adored my career pre-babies. Post-babies, I am bored-to-tears, some days, challenged beyond words on most days. (And I’m in love with my computer!) So I read, and watch, and listen (and rant, whine, and fail) to find what works for me. And I simply pass along the stuff that works, and sometimes doesn’t, on this blog of mine. Today - what works for me, is going to a mom’s group where we talk, connect, share coffee, and someone else watches the kids! If you leave a comment with something that works for you, you’ll be entered into a draw for this cute strawberry & cream stationary set (journal, pen, notecards, and coasters).*

And for everyone, a small party favor! (these graphics are from the fabulous Susan of Raspberry Road Designs. Click on the image to open the pdf file and print out “miss you!” note cards.

I can’t wait to meet the moms who visit here. And maybe I’ll see you on your blog! :)

*The Draw: Be sure to leave your email, and I’ll post the winner here on my blog, and also email you. Also, please just one entry (unless there is something that you just HAVE to share that works that you forgot the last time - and you can’t edit - and you’d like to - and maybe I’m okay with that.)

* Unfortunately, this is open to US and Canadian shipping addresses only.

* I will announce the winner at the end of our party on May 16.

This contest is now closed.

I find that just getting out of the norm of everyday mothering bordom can be more thing challenging. Finding an outlet of just calling my sister. To discuss the latest crisis that has happened to mothering four kids (1 being my DH) has helped me combat that I’m not a lone. She is the same boat… needing a outlet, another mother to exchange battle scars. Yes blogging has helped too…. It great to met the moms that have so much good advice to offer… I love it…

    Hi!

Thank you for the lovely card and nice to meet you. :)

And I have to agree with you, I’m totally addicted to my computer too. Have a great party. Stop by and visit if you get a chance.

    Hello! Nice to meet you!
What works for me is having a part-time job outside of the home. I never thought that I’d say that, but after staying home the first 7 years, I needed a change. I see on your side bar that you want to encourage mom’s with depression. Good for you! Depression is more common than mom’s want to admit. Actually, getting my part-time job was one of the steps I took to battle the depression that I was in.

  4. Cathleen Says:

Kind of silly, but. What works for me is looking at photos of my kids from the past. For example, I saw a photo of my daughter last year on the day we brought the “new baby” home from the hospital and I was shocked at how much of a baby she was herself! It reminds me how little she was then, and how little she still is now - in a year I’ll look at photos of her taken today and think how wee she is. It reminds me to slow down and enjoy the moments with my kids, rather than rushing and demanding and pushing.

  5. Niki Says:

What works for me is setting aside “me” time to journal. I have tons of them for different things: gratitude, self-reflection, poetry writing, etc.

It is a relaxing and rewarding thing to do…just having some private time each day!

    :)

  6. Jenna Says:

I have to say just knowing all the things my little one is learning works for me! I know I am her ultimate teacher. And then I can get the chance to get online when it’s sleepy time and just unwind…being a mommy is the ultimate gift/job/WORLD!

I think what really works for me is just taking 15 minutes or so a day and making it my time. I quite often spend that time on the phone with my fiance who lives in Arizona (I’m in NY right now finishing school.) and talking away the stresses of the day.

  13. Angie Says:

Dropping by from Mommy Fest. Nice to meet you.

I don’t have any kids at home but since I work from home, I find what works for me is networking with others online and when we can meet up locally, even better.

    Happy blog hopping!
